On October 11, 1971, the song “Imagine” was released, and it quickly climbed atop the charts. It is often highly regarded as one of the greatest singles of all time. Despite its success, the song found itself surrounded by much controversy. In the song, Lennon proposes a world without a heaven, hell, a country, politics, hunger, and other social dilemmas. Many religious fanatics disliked the message of the song due to the idea of a world without a heaven.
The meaning behind "Imagine" by John Lennon:
Lennon was asking us to imagine a place where things that divide people (religion, possessions, etc.) did not exist. He felt that would be a much better place.
This song is a strong political message that is sugarcoated in a beautiful melody. Lennon realized that the softer approach would bring the song to a wider audience, who hopefully would listen to his message.
The reason:

This song is a strong political message that is sugarcoated in a beautiful melody. Lennon realized that the softer approach would bring the song to a wider audience, who hopefully would listen to his message.

He is trying to make the point that religion has brought more catastrophe and negativity into the world than chaos. People have this preconceived notion that one religion is better than another. People should not be separated and prejudiced simply due to their beliefs. He envisions a world of peace, and ironically this idea is opposed. He is trying to engage the listener into believing that people should not be bounded by their country, politics, wars, etc. People should be “one” with each other and live in harmony.
Cultural Aspect:
This song was popular during the Vietnam War and Civil Rights Movement. Lennon may not have been necessarily attacking religion or the war in general through his song. However, he is challenging us to think about how the world would operate without certain constraints (social norms and man-made organizations such as religion or politics) and it is more relevant to today than it was for 30 years ago.
Support:
We choose the music Imagine because it's a song that brings us hope, that shows a world with peace, where religion and nationality don't divide people. We like this song too much, so we thought that was a good one to be the subject of our work.

“Imagine” was the most successful single off of John Lennon’s career. The song is acclaimed as one of the greatest songs of the history of music. And it’s also one of the most commercially successful records of the past. “Imagine” was released in October 1971 on Vinyl, that included “It’s So Hard” and “Working Class Hero” on the back side of it.
